Senior Front-End Web Developer  

Due to expansion our client is looking for a Senior Front-end Web Developer.  

The candidate will have some experience as a back end programmer, but his/her passion is reserved for front-end web development. Essential personality traits include self-motivation, exceptional dedication, commitment to high software production quality, and the ability and mindset to deal with constantly changing technical priorities and business requirements in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The role will have a support component (maybe 20%) that includes monitoring day-to-day production requests and distributing tasks to other members of the front-end development team. The successful candidate will be a go-to person, filling in gaps where needed and championing a best practices culture that strives to innovate.  We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills coupled with the ability to provide task allocation.  

Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, as is a strong interest in Web 2.0 approaches and Web standards.   

Required Technical Skills:       4+ years hands-on web development experience and senior-level knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX , DHTML, DOM scripting and cross-browser compatibility issues.    2+ years programming experience in Java, XML, Servlet and JSP ;        Understanding of PHP or other web programming languages;  Experience with JDBC, SQL and Oracle databases is an asset;   Experience with a Unix (Solaris) or Linux environment

Additional Skills:         Excellent design skills, with the ability to transform concepts into working models and product solutions;   Sound knowledge of performance optimization techniques;   Development experience with Flash (ActionScript); Experience working with a source control system such as CVS;         Strong analytical skills and ability to assist other team members in problem solving;  Ability to work with minimal supervision;  Good team player who is willing to support other people;   Willingness to learn constantly, in both the technical and the business realm;

Education:

-          Possess an undergraduate degree in a Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar discipline from a recognized university.

Software Developer- Support Our client an OSS systems integration company provides strategy consulting, product implementation, and custom software development services to communication service providers around the globe. The Customer Support team is the front line team that interfaces with our customers in the event of service difficulties. 

Primary Responsibilities Receive trouble reports directly from customer or partners. Analyses the trouble reports and determine the root cause and provide solutions to the customers. Reproduce troubles in a lab environment when appropriate. Provide customers with regular status throughout the trouble process. For those troubles requiring bug fixes interface directly with the development team. Thoroughly document all details associated with each trouble report

Qualifications Experience with applications using Oracle database and SQL queries  Experience with Java scripting, Experience with Solaris, HP-UX and Red Hat Linux Knowledgeable about Tomcat, Webshere and Weblogic would be an asset.

Communications Must be able to communicate assertively and make recommendations with confidence to customers Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with customers. Candidates will be responsible for delivering quality software within specified deadlines and supporting the delivery of these solutions to our customers. Job responsibilities include:

·         Plan, conduct, and supervise complex information systems assignments; includes preparing proposals and cost estimates for future work. Analyze, design, and prepare program specifications to support a broad range of business systems requirements and technical specifications. Design and apply new methods and procedures. Communicate and discuss project related status and issues with clients and other departments.
